Mourners at the funeral of the
East Bank businessmen who was murdered by bandits a week
ago, yesterday carried placards demanding firmer action
against criminals.
They carried placards
showing their frustration that the killers had not yet
being caught and calling for further measures to protect
businessmen and others from marauding bandits.
It is time that the
communities be taken more into the fight against crime and
the placards at the funeral yesterday were sending a message to the authorities.
"The only way justice
can be served is a life for a life", a friend of the
dead businessman said at the funeral and the sentiment is
understandable given the manner of the businessman's
death.
On the other hand, there
are those who roundly criticise
the Police when known
criminals are shot dead in confrontations with cops trying
to arrest them.
